Eatper guide
How to start a food diary in Eatper
A useful food diary starts with three details: the food you chose, the amount you ate, and the day it belongs to. Eatper brings those entries together so you can review calories, protein, carbohydrates, and fat without adding each total yourself.
Add your first food
Start with one meal you can describe easily. In the diary, check the selected date before adding anything, especially when recording yesterday’s meals. The food goes into the meal and date you are working on.
- Choose the day and the meal you want to record, then open Add food.
- Search for the food by name. When relevant, include the brand so you can distinguish similar products.
- Open the food details and check that the result matches what you ate. Review the selected serving or amount before accepting it.
- Set the amount, confirm the addition, and return to the diary to check the entry under the intended meal.
Make the amount match your meal
A search result identifies a food; it does not know how much you ate. A package size, suggested serving, and the portion on your plate can all be different. Check the unit as well as the number, rather than accepting a default amount automatically.
Eatper’s food details show nutrition for the selected amount. Changing that amount changes the calories and macros attached to the entry. When a food offers a serving option, confirm what that serving represents. Use the amount control when you need a different quantity.
A simple breakfast example
Suppose you ate 150 g of yogurt with 40 g of oats. These are example quantities, not suggested portions. Search for the yogurt, check its product details, and add 150 g to breakfast. Add the oats as a separate 40 g entry under the same meal.
You can then see which foods make up the meal instead of relying on an approximate entry called “breakfast.” If you later realise the oats were 30 g, correct that entry. There is no need to add a second oats entry to compensate for the first one.
Correct an amount or remove a duplicate
The diary’s food rows include an edit control for the selected amount and a delete control. Use edit to change the quantity of the existing entry, then check the updated meal total. Deleting an entry asks for confirmation.
If you chose the wrong food, remove that entry and add the correct result. Before deleting a suspected duplicate, check its date and meal: the same food may legitimately appear more than once in your day.
Read the totals in context
The daily calorie and macro totals describe the entries you have recorded. A partly logged day is still a partly logged day, even when its numbers look precise. If a total is surprising, review the individual foods and amounts before drawing conclusions from it.
Manual food logging and access to existing diary entries are included in Free. Copying diary days or meals is a Premium shortcut; you can continue recording meals manually without it. When the basic routine feels familiar, the progress views help you review several days together.
- Check the day, meal, food, and amount before leaving the diary.
- Correct the original entry when a quantity changes.
- Use consistent food descriptions so later entries are easier to compare.
